The exposition took place shortly after Villarejo’s widow and colleague in the creative task, Conchita Momeñe (in the picture next to TOPIC’s co-director, Miguel Arreche), handed over the whole of Colorín’s materials to the TOPIC museum.
These, in turn, were used to set up an exhibit that allowed the visitor to learn what Colorín and the rest of puppets that featured the show were like, as well as seeing the small stage used for performing and other materials. All in all, visitors were offered access to twenty-eight puppets, six sets, the small stage, pictures, varied documents (contracts, scripts, Christmas postcards, the company’s stationary, …) and sound, light and props from that era.
Colorín traversed all of the towns and cities in Gipuzkoa, as well as others in Bizkaia, Araba and Nafarroa, arriving even in the remotest rural areas. With the children, his unconditional friends, he shared his predicaments, laughed, sang and always got the upper-hand thanks to their generous help.
After a life of almost fifty years, the TOPIC will be the place where Colorín will lie down and be preserved so that all of us who met him onstage can remember him. It is also the place where younger generations that do not know about his adventures can meet him. As the exhibit rightly showed, Colorín was a touch of joy and fun in a grim time, very tough in social and economic matters. He was longed for everywhere he went, marking his visits as annual musts.
