Founded by Jesús Nieto in 2007, Onírica Mecánica is a research and creation project that builds poetic-mechanical-imaginary worlds. The company delves into recent memory and the relationship between humans and nature and technology. His 12 creations have been performed more than 800 times in 25 countries, winning a dozen awards for the innovation and originality of his proposals.
“In our proposals we invite the public to enter another world, a world in which the figure of the actor or actress is diluted to give focus to objects, words and poetic actions. A journey to the strange landscapes of the soul and the questions of the present for an active spectator who builds, creates and gets excited with us…” says Jesús Nieto.
Onírica has already been in residence at the TOPIC with the work “Ronem Ram”, which due to its particular format could not be presented at the Titirijai, which it did attend with the shows “Alice and the Invisible Cities” and with “Frágil”.
“In this residency, with “Verne”, we are making approximations to the scenes; For example, we are seeing how to manipulate stones, nature, how we create organisms in which there is manipulation of plants, other beings… “Verne” is a song to the imagination, to what makes human beings different. The piece talks about the human need to imagine the future at a time when it is dangerous to do so due to the very negative vision we have of it.”
The show has been in the works for seven months now; the dramaturgy is Nieto’s from the improvisation work with the performers, light and sound. “We have another seven months left. Now we are defining the dramaturgy and the scenes. From here to Murcia to the Guadalupe auditorium, where we will be in residence for two weeks and where we will make a first version of the piece that we will premiere in May, at the “Mucho más mayo” festival in Cartagena. From May to December, we will see what the piece asks of us and if we can come with it to Titirijai. The official premiere will take place on December 13 at the Circo de Murcia theater,” Jesús Nieto concludes.
