Men, Women, Puppets.

2021 | International
This exhibition showcases UNIMA’s crucial role in the world of the puppet, as it participates in the development of this artistic expression and the training of new puppeteers, without ever losing contact with tradition or overlooking the diffusion of the puppeteer’s art across every continent.

Considered to be the oldest theatrical association in the world, UNIMA plays an essential role due to the fact that it unites puppeteers from all over the world. The exhibition highlights the different countries where UNIMA has national centres, which strive for the preservation of puppets of very diverse cultural backgrounds, at the same time as they help local puppeteers and artists accomplish their objectives.
Additionally, by means of this exhibition, UNIMA pays tribute to the persons who fought for puppetry and contributed to the creation of a shared future for all. We, as their successors, continue carrying the torch as if it were the Olympic Games. We cannot let the flame die. It must burn brightly for the following generations and for all emotions to remain intact, in an effort to ensure the life and development of this ancestral art for many years to come.
