Every year since 1977, ICOM has organized International Museum Day on May 18, an exceptional moment for the international museum community. The objective of International Museum Day (IDM) is to raise awareness of the fact that museums are an important medium for cultural exchange, the enrichment of cultures, as well as for the development of mutual understanding, collaboration and peace between peoples.
This year, TOPIC will celebrate this event, as usual, on a weekend, in this case on Friday and Saturday, May 13 and 14, respectively, with an extensive program of activities.
On Friday there will be an open day, from 4:00 p.m. to 12:00 p.m. At 8:00 p.m. in Basque and at 9:00 p.m. in Spanish there will be a free guided tour for adults (previous registration) and at 11:00 p.m. a white cocktail courtesy of the Bide-Bide.
On Saturday, May 14, we will once again enjoy an open day, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. At 11.30 there will be a concert by the students of the Musikene classical performance master’s degree; in this case the group is called Ashyma Quartet, a group made up of the saxophonist Marta Judith Angulo, the clarinettists Teresa Castañón and Leticia del Monte and the saxophonist Narayan Rishi. His repertoire will focus on works by Singelée, Márquez, Iturralde and Romero.
Also at 11:30, free dramatized guided tours for families (11:30 Basque and 12:30 Spanish, prior registration). At 5:00 p.m. delivery of the FOTOPIC award. At 5:30 p.m. the new temporary exhibition, “Retablo de figurillas” will be inaugurated and at the same time there will be a family workshop prior to the show “Beethoven” by the Argentine company Babel Teatro.

The museum will be closed on January 1 and 6, on January 5 in the afternoon; in Carnival from the 27th to the 5th, on June 24 for the San Juan festivities and on December 25. On December 24 and 31 in the afternoon.
Access to the theater will be closed 15 minutes after the start of the performance.
