“El alma de las cosas” is an exhibition created by the multifaceted Quebec artist and puppeteer Noémi Bélanger, which will remain in the temporary exhibition hall until September 20. Her expertise in textile arts, her inspiring imagination, and her unique style quickly set her apart, leading her to present her work in far-reaching solo exhibitions. A specialist in needle felting, the artist sculpts wool. The handcrafted textures, the result of thousands of stitches, remind us that the work is handmade, conveying to the figures, like an echo, the existence of the human being behind the work. With its uneven composition, the felted wool lends the figures a certain imperfection, a reflection of an endearing humanity. The visual effect of these humans with animal skin awakens tactile sensations in the viewer. Truly unique narrative works that the artist readily presents, her figures fix their gaze on the viewer, initiating a dialogue.
